On November 8, Americans will be called to vote for a variety of federal, State, and local offices. The entire House of Representatives, one third of the Senate, and 36 gubernatorial seats will also be on the ballot. The outcome of the 2022 midterm elections won’t just have a major impact on the remaining two years of Joe Biden's presidency. It will also affect the direction of the United States in a world torn by multiple crises, including heightened nuclear risk and a looming global recession, as well as intensifying great power competition. What should we expect? What are the most pressing domestic and international issues for voters, and how are the two parties trying to address them? Will a different congressional majority affect the course of U.S. foreign policy, particularly with regards to the war in Ukraine and transatlantic relations?
